Just In: Giants Set to Make a Splash, Targeting Willy Adames This Offseason
The San Francisco Giants missed the playoffs in 2024 and the Milwaukee Brewers are currently sitting and watching the MLB playoffs after they lost to the New York Mets in the National League Wild Card Round. One of the things that the Brewers will have to decide this offseason is whether or not they should re-sign shortstop Willy Adames.
Adames is going to be one of the best players on the free-agent market. In the 2024 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, he played in 161 games and had a .251 batting average with 32 home runs and 112 RBIs, along with 21 stolen bases and four caught stealing attempts. His on-base percentage was .331.
The San Francisco Giants Emerge As Contenders To Sign Willy Adames This Offseason
It is very possible that the Milwaukee Brewers may not be able to afford shortstop Willy Adames this offseason. The San Francisco Giants are looking to contend in the NL West again. Buster Posey is the new President Of Baseball Operations and San Francisco is looking to make a splash this offseason.
New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported:
“Willy Adames, spiritual leader of Brew Crew, has been target of Dodgers, Braves and Giants in past and they’re seen as among possible landing spots. Brewers would love to keep him but understand he’s probably out of price range. LA, with Friedman/Rays link, possible favorite?”
There could be a potential bidding war for him this offseason. He has been linked to the Los Angeles Dodgers also for quite some time. Adames is 29 years old and could receive a big contract this offseason.
National League Central Champions For Second Straight Season
The Brewers won the National League Central for the second straight season with a 93-69 record. Willy Adames played a huge role with this team this season. It would be a big loss for this organization if he didn’t re-sign with the ball club.
One of the reasons why the San Francisco Giants need to make a move is because the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Diego Padres have had success over the last couple of years. San Francisco was in play for Aaron Judge a couple of offseasons ago but they struck out on that.
